OneBottle is built to minimize data collection. Below is a transparent breakdown of every data interaction in the app.
Purpose: Capture images of plastic bottles for identification and recycling guidance.
Data use: Camera frames are processed in real-time for rectangle detection using Apple's on-device Vision framework. No images are saved to your photo library unless you explicitly choose to do so.
Storage: No local or remote retention. Camera data is transient and discarded after processing.
Purpose: Identify bottle type, material, and provide recycling instructions.
Data use: When you capture a bottle image for AI analysis, the image is transmitted over TLS-encrypted connections to our secure proxy server (Tencent Cloud SCF), which forwards it to Alibaba Cloud Bailian (qwen-vl-max-latest) for one-time visual recognition. Recognition results are returned immediately.
Storage: Images are not stored on our servers. They are processed in-memory and discarded immediately after recognition completes. Neither Tencent Cloud SCF nor Alibaba Cloud retains your images beyond the duration of a single API request.
Purpose: All other app functionality operates entirely on-device.
Data use: Bottle recognition results, recycling history, and preferences are stored locally on your device using standard iOS storage mechanisms. Nothing is uploaded to any server.
Storage: Data remains on your device only. You can clear it at any time by deleting the app.
OneBottle uses the following third-party services solely for the purpose of image recognition:
We do not use any analytics SDKs, advertising networks, crash reporting tools, or user tracking frameworks.
